In 2000, Pethany relocated to San Francisco, and started to focus on three topics: "Land", "Window", and "American Life"; "Land" is for the beauty, differences, and changes of this land; "Window" is her emotional reflection of depression and isolation. The most representative "Window" photo is "Locked in SF"; "American Life" is her personal view of living in the US. She uses her unique cultural angle to look into this "New Mainland".
In 2004, Pethany began working on another two new series, "Modern China" and "The Taiwanese"; "Modern China" is her witnessing of the changes and conflicts of the "World Factory"; "The Taiwanese" is to record emotional moments and portraits of the people in Taiwan. These two series will be exhibited in 2006. Here are some new photographs from these two series. For more photographs and information of the new series, please enter the "Modern China" or "The Taiwanese" sections.
